Chapter 01 · Where it started
It started with one family home.
In 2020, Billy Adams set out to restore a house he had inherited. That project became Boundless Construction, founded in Asheville by Asheville natives.
The idea hasn't changed: We specialize in transforming houses that need a little TLC into stunning, move-in-ready homes.
Billy trained at A-B Tech, earned his General Contractor License in 2022 and brings over 25 years of experience to every job. Today he runs the company with his wife, Christi, as COO, keeping the work organized while Billy keeps it precise.

Chapter 04 · Plan your project
What are you planning?
Pick a project to see what Boundless handles, the questions worth thinking through first, and work we've done. Then start your quote with it already filled in.
Your project
New custom home
What Boundless handles
- Site evaluation for slope, drainage, trees and access
- Conceptual layout, engineering drawings and permits
- Material specification and phased construction
- One contract covering design and build
Questions to think about
- What will your site need for a foundation?Sloped lots call for engineered systems such as stepped footings or pier-and-beam, and soil testing comes before excavation.
- When do selections need to be final?Structural materials are set during design; cabinetry, flooring and fixtures are usually chosen before framing is complete.
- Which permits apply to your lot?Building and electrical permits are standard, plus septic if you're not on municipal sewer, and sometimes erosion control or tree removal.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Kitchen
What Boundless handles
- Layout changes and open-concept conversions
- Cabinetry, countertops, flooring and fixtures
- Plumbing and electrical rough-ins for new appliance spots
- Lighting over prep zones and ventilation
Questions to think about
- Can that wall come out?Load-bearing walls need beams and posts; partition walls don't. It's confirmed by checking joist direction and framing.
- Will the wiring keep up?Older homes may lack circuit capacity for several appliances at once, so the plan checks whether an upgrade is needed.
- Which materials keep upkeep low?Quartz needs no sealing, epoxy grout resists stains, and solid wood cabinets can be refinished later.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Bathroom
What Boundless handles
- Full gut-and-rebuild or a fixture-and-finish update
- Tile, vanities, shower and tub surrounds
- Drain and supply lines, backer board and waterproofing
- Ducted exhaust fans and accessibility features
Questions to think about
- Full gut or cosmetic update?Water damage, soft subflooring or leak-prone plumbing justify full removal; sound bathrooms can take new fixtures and finishes.
- Is the ventilation adequate?Exhaust fans of at least 50 CFM clear humid air before it condenses, which matters in Asheville's humid climate.
- Any accessibility needs?Grab bars into blocking, handheld showerheads and comfort-height toilets can be added without moving plumbing.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Addition or conversion
What Boundless handles
- Room additions matched to your roofline and siding
- Garage conversions and attic build-outs
- Foundations, framing and roof tie-ins
- Permits, structural drawings and inspections
Questions to think about
- Will it need its own foundation?Additions built on grade need independent footings, set below Asheville's frost depth.
- Converting a garage? The slab gets an insulated subfloor, the door opening becomes a framed wall with windows, and HVAC extends from the house.
- Have you factored in property taxes?More finished living area raises assessed value, and how much varies by jurisdiction.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Whole-home renovation
What Boundless handles
- Multi-room layout changes and wall removal
- Electrical panels, wiring, plumbing and HVAC upgrades
- Drywall, trim, flooring, cabinetry and paint
- One schedule for every trade, phased if you stay home
Questions to think about
- What gets updated first?Structural and system work comes before finishes, so nothing has to be torn back out.
- Will you move out?Long kitchen, bath or HVAC outages make it hard to stay; phasing keeps one kitchen and one bath working.
- How should the budget be split?Structural and system work usually takes a larger share than cosmetic finishes, and it comes first.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Deck or outdoor living
What Boundless handles
- Decks, covered porches and patios
- Outdoor kitchens with utility routing
- Flashed ledger connections and frost-depth footings
- Drainage and grading around the structure
Questions to think about
- Composite or wood?Capped composite needs less maintenance and won't splinter; pressure-treated wood needs periodic sealing.
- How will it attach to the house?A ledger board is bolted to the rim joist with galvanized or stainless hardware, with flashing above it.
- When should you build?Spring and fall are ideal for materials and finishes, though projects can proceed year-round.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Commercial build-out
What Boundless handles
- Tenant improvements and office renovations
- Partition framing, electrical and data routing
- HVAC changes for newly enclosed spaces
- Permits and inspections around your lease dates
Questions to think about
- What happens in the first assessment? The space is measured, utilities documented and structural limits identified, so the plan works around fixed elements.
- What does your landlord need to approve?Plans before construction starts, plus scheduled access to shutoffs or shared systems.
- How will work hours be handled?Noisy demolition and core drilling are often scheduled outside business hours; finish work can run with dust barriers.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Your project
Roofing
What Boundless handles
- Roof inspections and localized repairs
- Full replacements down to the decking
- Ice and water shield, underlayment and flashing
- Attic ventilation improvements
Questions to think about
- Repair or replace?Multiple leaks, widespread granule loss, sagging or spongy sheathing usually mean replacement.
- Which materials suit mountain weather?Architectural shingles with high wind ratings perform well, and metal roofing sheds snow quickly.
- Is your attic venting properly?Trapped heat ages shingles and can cause ice dams that force water under them in winter.

Every project starts with a consultation. Scope, budget and schedule are worked out for your home, not quoted from a list.
Chapter 05 · How we work
Four steps on the job board.
You're guided through each decision by one point of contact who understands both the design intent and the construction timeline.
-
Step 1: Consult & site evaluation
We walk the property with you: terrain, access, the house you have or the one you want. Conceptual layout starts here.
-
Step 2: Design & selections
Layout, materials and finishes are decided with the construction team at the table, so budget decisions happen during design, not after.
-
Step 3: Permits & scheduling
The same team handles permitting and the schedule. You'll know the scope before ground is broken and the schedule before framing starts.
-
Step 4: Build & final walkthrough
One point of contact through construction, with updates that matter at each milestone, all the way to the final walkthrough.
